Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Musculoskeletal Radiology

Dr. Hewes’ friendly, warm personality and humble demeanor belies the fact that he has always been on the cutting edge of Radiology, often lecturing nationally and internationally. One of the first fellowship trained Interventional Radiologists in America, he has developed new techniques in MRI of the knee and in percutaneous bone biopsy. Dr. Hewes has written a landmark article on the long term results of femoral artery angioplasty. He was one of the first to perform MRI guided breast biopsy and has worked extensively with vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty. Dr. Hewes’s accomplished career of leadership in Radiology includes serving as Medical Director and Chairman of Radiology at Kettering Medical Center, Hilton Head Hospital and now at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center.

Since 1998, Dr. Hewes has been providing Radiology Education to Micronesia and the Marshall Islands with his mission work. He is currently part of a CDC grant for Cancer Surveillance in the Marshall Islands.

Dr. Hewes is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology with subspecialty board certification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology.
